The province may have just announced Stage 3 of reopening. But that doesn’t mean the ongoing COVID-19 crisis is close to being over. In fact, Toronto has just cancelled all city-held and permitted events. And that rule will be in place until September 30th. The announcement came from Mayor John Tory during his Monday press briefing.

So a ton of events were already cancelled over the summer, including things like the Taste of Danforth, the CNE, and Pride. But now, other late-summer/fall staples will be saying goodbye. Think things like the Taste of the Kingsway, Cabbagetown Festival, the TIFF street celebrations, and Nuit Blanche. Although TIFF and Nuit Blanche have both figured out ways to adapt to the new regulations.

So TIFF will be holding a limited version of the famous festival. They’ve completely restructured to allow for social distancing. And as for Nuit Blanche, the Toronto art festival will be moving online this year.

Along with the cancellations, Tory also discussed the “DriveInTO” program. This new Toronto initiative will be bringing the city a ton of entertainment designed to be enjoyed from the comfort and safety of your own car. The goal is for Torontonians to be able to “reengage with their city and experience the very things that bring us joy.”

More info on Nuit Blanche should be dropping soon. So keep an eye out for that! And in the meantime, stay safe and stay healthy, Toronto. For more details click here.
